GRAFE is an association created in 1994. This NGO is specialized in microcredit is not driven by the care for profit. The association tries to fight poverty and prevent rural depopulation in West Africa (Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast) by improving the living conditions of its beneficiaries.

GRAFE looks on a microcredit as a modest loan allowing the support of the individual or collective enterprise for those who are excluded from the classic financial system. Interest rates set by GRAFE are very low. Access to classic credit in drastically limited in Africa, since very few people are wealthy enough to provide the banks with all the required guarantees for a loan.

The activities of GRAFE in Djilor-Djidjack
The Siné Saloum, the region of the lakes…
Djilor village is located in a loop of a tributary of the Saloum, the backwater of Djior, fifteen kilometers away from the ocean, and five minutes away from Ndangane. Catholics, Muslims and animists are everywhere in harmony. Almost all families are united by links of kinship.
The village of Djilor Djidiack which hardly has more than six hundred inhabitants is however known to all Senegalese: that is indeed the birthplace of the poet-president Léopold Sédar Senghor…
